Liverpool youngster set to be given some game time this season
Liverpool’s young forward Rhian Brewster is set to be given first team opportunities next season, as Jurgen Klopp looks to work with the squad he has available to him, according to The Times.
The outlet report that Brewster is highly rated at Liverpool and that the club’s approach to spending money to retain current players, with the likes of Mo Salah, Sadio Mané and Roberto Firmino all signing new deals in recent months, rather than investing heavily on new recruits, is going to allow the 19-year-old to have first team chances next season.
Brewster spent time out this season with an ankle injury, but the forward returned to action for Liverpool’s U23’s towards the end of the campaign, and Klopp is now thought to be ready to consider him as part of his first team plans for next season.
OPINION
It will be interesting to see how much first team involvement Klopp affords to Brewster next season, with the youngster set to be given a role in Liverpool’s first team squad next season. The 19-year-old is highly rated by Klopp and the forward looks like he could be ready to challenge for a place in Liverpool’s first team next term. However, he is unlikely to feature from the start regularly given Firmino is Klopp’s clear preferred option up front alongside Mane and Salah in the Reds’ front three. Having said that the departure of Daniel Sturridge, who is set to leave the club at the end of his contract, could leave a spot in Liverpool’s squad open for Brewster to establish himself as a valuable option off the bench. It will be crucial that Brewster takes his opportunity when he is given it and demonstrates the type of ability that has Klopp ready to make him part of his plans next season. If the 19-year-old can make the most of his opportunities he could establish himself as a key part of Liverpool’s squad for the next few seasons.
